Today I am featuring the newest design called wintery blue with snowflake pattern. Outside the air is bitterly cold and we have had our share of snow thus far this winter. Though I am toasty warm inside I’m still creating this seasons’ new offerings to share.
It all started when my daughter and I were drawing snowflakes. Inspired by something we saw on Pinterest our art pads were coming up with a variety of styles of frosty snowflakes.
After the snowflake session there were too many to choose from for a new design. I chose two and used my iPad to draw them in digital form. I wanted a simple yet modern background and created a tri-blue pattern that would work well with cell phone cases, pillows and more. The result was what you see below.
I’m very pleased with this simplistic winter pattern. It does work well with many of the items I sell online. For example it was easy to create a custom iPhone case with a name you could change. To the right is the entire collection from Lasgalen Arts on Zazzle.com.
I had another art dream and this time it brought me to the latest blue and white dots project. As regular readers who will know, I receive many art projects via dreams. These art dreams chase me down nightly until I actually put them in action.
The original dream was quite psychedelic. It was like being in and Austin Powers movie party scene. The blue and white concentrical rings sunk into the middle of a circle over and over till I became dizzy. By the third night I said, “Enough!”. Thus the blue and white dots project was born.
I have plans for this blue and white dots project. I think I’ll drive myself further crazy by making a pattern of them.
Feeling like summer is coming on I felt the need to create this blue floral painting last week. As you can see from the photo below, the design is more of an abstract implying these are flowers. I find it is the colors that attract me to painting and not so much the subjects. Confession time, I also enjoy the gelatinous feeling of the paint being smeared around on the canvas with soft bristles of the paint brush.
The small gray or teal features are for accents. They could be leaves or fallen petals of other flowers. That is up to you to decide.
Shown on leggings from my Lasgalen Arts Redbubble store below. There you will find this beautiful painting on home decor items, various print options, cell phone cases as well as more fashionable clothing options.
The latest acrylic painting White Orbs In Storm is another dream inspired abstract art piece. Perhaps because I had been pondering about tranquil scenes disrupted by unpredictable actions that day this idea came to my subconscious mind.
White orbs of purity surrounded by a fluid sea of blue are painted with various shades of blue encircling them. Floating, the balls of white light are no longer inhabiting a quiet space as lines of color are scrapped through the paint. Leaving white dots like star dust these lines interrupt the eye and creates movement on the canvas board.
Though White Orbs in Storm original piece is not for sale, I am proud to offer prints and more in my Lasgalen Arts Redbubble store. Below is a sample, a huge scarf as a wearable piece of art!
In the North winter is blue. Freshly fallen snow has blue overtones. Once the sky is lit the gradient blue is endless. The blue birds chest remains blue all throughout winter. When you miss the sun you feel very blue.
I’ve been thinking of changes, not because it is January but because of winter. Winter doesn’t always remind us to sleep, to hibernate as bears do. It reminds us that this is the time for action, for preparations to be made going forward. There are things in my life I’d like to change, goals I would like to see met are in motion this January. I hope to be sharing more of these changes soon with you.
It’s quite a process moving forward with new ideas. I’d very much like to hone in on how far I can take my printmaking experience. I’ve decided to explore more creative avenues starting with this medium. Who knows, perhaps I will be morphing into my own style and make something of it.
