Amniotic Recall

Once buoyant as jellyfish,
they now submerge
their legs in turquoise
warmth.

Old enough to fear water
spindly limbs reach-
nostrils raised as snorkels,
hope to remember lessons known.

Seven years later their minds
try to recall dark silky fluid,
music through thin membranes
and the human cradle.
